GCA completed a co-operative managed socially rented scheme in Dublin in 1996 which has been providing data relating to fuel poverty and energy management for the last 10 years.

This project has been extremely successful resulting in energy bills at 35% of the national average with combined energy bills of £370 < £1300 per annum.

In 1996 the scheme adopted:
Low CO2 emissivity boilers.
Low emissivity glazing with Solar blinds.
Full cavity insulation and 20mm roof insulation.
Solid internal walls for mass heat storage.
DATATHERM energy management, setting different ambient temperatures dependent on room orientation.
